Dismantling the system

She made a face "it's uhm....good?"

She nodded in agreement and ate as the dinner began to taper off with their parents having made decisions and what not.

"I like it, and it is good with other things, even if made right it makes a good in between layer for cake."

[~Amber~]

He just listened trying to hide his annoyance with the situation until his father was preparing to leave himself before it got too dark

"I think I'd like it more in cake"

Her father walked his out and while they were gone her mother reached over to her to give her hand a quick reassuring squeeze.

He glanced to the door where one of the guards that had been in the royal dining room indicated to him they were almost finished.
"Looks like they're about finished, are you done?"

He stood at the door as his father left after saying goodbye. He was used to a fancy home but staying in a palace he just felt put of place and for once slightly uncomfortable


She stuffed one last bite of cake in her mouth then nodded

Once she was ready he led her back out to accompany Astrid where she and her mother informed them of what was occuring.
"We will assign staff for Alexander for his day to day needs, they are part of Astrid's staff roster so do answer to Nicholas outside of Astrid herself. It won't affect either of your own regular training and duties but so that you are aware. When he returns Astrid will be going over her rules and showing him to his room," the queen explained to them, knowing today was Evie's first day.

Evie gave a little nod "Okay your majesty"
and looked over as Alex walked back into the room Evie was curious about this whole situation and like Nick said she could tell he wasn't super excited either just like Astrid

Astrid stood as well, "Alexander this is Nicholas and Evie, my primary staff, I will introduce your staff in the morning. I will go over how things work around here as we go. This way please."
With that she started walking to lead the way, Nicholas walking behind the two with Evie.

Evie trailer behind with nick as Alex walked beside Astrid "Well looks like we're stuck with eachother for a couple days" he said, his father said some things before leaving that had made him quite irritated

"It would seem so," she hummed.
"Alright, here at the palace we treat our staff with respect regardless of class. The staff that will be attending to you are my staff so I expect you to be respectful and courteous to them and will know if you are not as they are to be respectful to you.I also expect you to learn their names and address them as such. Nicholas is my head of staff as well as my security guard, any concerns can go through either of us. Is everything clear thus far?"

[~Amber~]

"Yeah, all clear. Unlike most other nobleman sons I was raised by nanny's so I wasn't raised to treat them like crap" he said looking over at the two "nick and...Evie correct?"
"Uhm yes" Evie said with a little nod

That caught her attention and she cracked a real smile, "I was too. I was very confused when I got older and learned more about the system and how people were treated."
Nick nodded, "That's right."
As they turned into the princess' wing they stopped at a suit across the hall from her room.
"Here we are. If you need something in the night there is a rope to pull for the night staff but the room should be all ready for you," she opened the door to a large and luxurious room, a private bathroom with a larger shower and soaker tub and a walk in closet and balcony. Originally for another heir but for now served as a guest suit for a promising suitor.

"I should be alright, no need to bother anyone at night if anything comes up I should survive" he said with a small smile

She nodded, "very well, I'll show you around in the morning but the study and studio for this wing is right next door there and the common room is at the end of the hall where we keep some snacks and drinks for everyone in this hall. We will leave you to settle for now but I am also across there if you need something."

"Alright, should be simple enough to remember, thank you"
