Dismantling the system

She gave a nod before walking to the room next door to her own, "and Evie this will be your room, I know you haven't had much chance to settle in yet."
Evie's and Nick's rooms flanked Astrid's and were good sized but relatively normal rooms with big closets and their own bathroom as well with a stand in shower and a separate tub with a balcony and a nook with a desk and some bookshelves.

She looked a little surprised "I get my own room? An actual room?"

"Yes you do," she nodded.
"Nick's room is on the other side of mine if you need him as well."

[~Amber~]

"Oh, okay...do you need anything else from me before bed?"

[***Stormchaser***]

"Nope, the rest of the night is yours, you're also welcome to use the common spaces in this wing or have a snack or drink in the common area down the hall or use the study there," Astrid replied.
"There should be clothes for you in the closet as well. I hope you sleep well, there is usually a bell that sounds in the rooms for the start of the day when breakfast has begun."

"Okay....this is all so different" she said. It freaked her out a little being treated as a human being not property

"You'll have light work over the next week or so so that you can adjust and train," she nodded.

"Okay, I suppose tonight I'll just try to spend time adjusting to a space of my own"

[***Stormchaser***]

"Okay," she replied, "goodnight."
"See you in the morning," Nick added before the two headed to their own rooms.

"Goodnight" she said before walking into the room and closing the door in awe "this can't be real"

Astrid sat up for a little while to do more studying before getting ready for sleep herself.

Evie struggled to fall asleep so used ro a thin blanket and an even thinner mattress on the floor. But she eventually did pass out once she was to tired

Alex on the other hand didn't really sleep at all, maybe a few hours of the night he did but he ended up sitting in the studio painting. He always did when stressed out and he knew if this didn't go well it's all he would hear about

Nick did one last round through the wing before the next shift would begin and poked his head into the studio when seeing a light on, thinking it was Astrid though was surprised to see Alex.
"Oh, I was expecting the princess, you do art late at night too?" He asked.

He looked up a bit startled since he was so zoned in "Ah yeah, just in certain instances though"

"Like stress?" He guessed.
