Overcoming the Darkness

The Kingdom of Shadow, once a beacon of hope and Light before being overtaken and now a beacon of Darkness and fear. Its borders had been expanding over several generations.
Signs of change were coming though from the Prince leaving yo join a rebellion or a few around the land bring born with special powers.
Jett, formerly known as Jasper, was out and about in a small town to buy some food and get to know the area. It hadn't yet been invaded but the forces of Dark were pressing closer. The rebellion was here to try and protect this town as it was also at the entrance to the only mountain pass to go further east.

Every couple days Enzo and Arabella had to move further and further towards the mountains as the darkness took over everything the were familiar with until they now set up shop in a little mountain village.
It had a small square where people would come to purchase goods and Bell was smiling and as usual getting lots of attention for her pretty face and sweet demeanor while Enzo just sat with a blank expression as the men were willing to buy really anything just because she might give them a chance.
Lots of what they traveled with to sell were things that now were unattainable from areas that were not shrouded in the dark, like fruits and grains that had only grown in the villages of the valley.
Enzo hadn't moved until some idiot grabbed his sisters wrist and wouldn't let go.
"Let go please" she said trying to stay calm though the man, who seemed a bit tipsy did not let go just grinned
"No, see why don't you come with me and w-" the man shrieked and released her when Enzo got to him. Though he only touched his other wrist when he let go the mam had what looked like a burn, but not from the heat from the cold.
"That's enough, Let's go Bell" he said turning and shutting the the door to the cart, she nodded quietly and followed her brother

Jett had been looking around at the goods in the village center when the mild commotion caught his eye and he notice that with a simple touch the drunkard's hand had what appeared to be a burn.
The man moved on to harass another young woman, who had red hair and blue eyes but still just as pretty but that seemed to be the wrong decision as well, before Jett could move to interfere the woman herself spun and kicked the guy with the back of her foot to the side of his head hard enough to knock him out cold.
"Oops," she said sheepishly while checking to make sure the guy was okay by poking him with a stick until a slight groan escaped from him.
She hopped back up and walked quickly away and though most wouldn't catch it, heck even Jett likely wouldn't have had he not been watching everything unfold, her hair changed from a shoulder length red to long and blonde so as to no longer be noticed.
Jett decided to inspect that apparent burn too and looked at the unconscious man's arm to see it as a cold burn.
"Hmmm, interesting," he hummed.

"Whyd you do that someone could have noticed" bell said scolding her brother who just rolled his eyes
"Its one thing if I do something but if you happened to do something that could cause a commotion. They will just think they got burnt doing something stupid while drunk" he replied setting some things back into the wagon as bell pet the horses

"Unless someone knows what ice burns looks like, and many people around here in the mountains would but few noticed," Jett said from behind them.

Meanwhile Nova slipped out of the main part of the village to a cabin she was staying in outside of town for the time being.

Enzo turned around and pushed Bell behind him "can I help you?"
Bell sighed "Enzo, leave him be please dont start anything. Lets just go find some place to stay"

"I mean no harm," he raised his hands up in surrender.
"There's a sweet older couple in a yellow cottage just outside of town eastward that rents cabins partway up the mountain, I would check with them if you want somewhere private to stay, otherwise there is the Inn over there."

"The inn should be okay" Arabella said giving him a little smile "thank you for your help mr...?"

"Just Jett, not mister," he replied.
"Suit yourselves, I prefer the cabins myself, they're private and more affordable."

[~Amber~]

"I perfer affordable, and private is better that way you can practice" Enzo said looking and her and she nodded
"Okay, if that's where you'd like to stay..this is my brother Enzo and my names Arabella but I perfer Bell"

"Nice to meet you Bell and Enzo. If you need anything I'll be in cabin thirteen. I know a thing or two about hm unusual abilities so to speak," he replied while giving a wave and walking down the road.

"Probably not hers but thanks" Enzo grumbled, being is usually cold and distant self as he grabbed the horses reigns to lead them towards the cabins.
"If he meant any harm he would have said something about what you did. Not everyone is bad Enzo"

"Don't bet money on that, I grew up around a lot of magic and stuff like that," he chuckled.

He didn't respond, he didn't trust anyone with knowing what his sister could do. Not with the dark looming so close, they got the horses put away as bell went to speak to the couple who owned the cabins about getting one

"Oo, welcome this is a surprise, so many young people coming to stay, two others have rented as well. Here you go you can have number number four," the old lady greeted while handing them a key.
