Things are Not Always as they Seem

(i'm just going to skip to after school)

After school she changed into her normal clothing (like her pic) and headed to the bookstore. It was her day to run the fortune telling. Most people went in for fun, and that was okay, others were dead serious, but everthing that River would tell them was true, she never made anything up. Most of the time all she would need to do was touch someone and know most of thier past, present and future. It freaked her out so she often refrained from being in physical contact with others.

(on her way the two should like bump into each other or something and he's all rude to her as if it was her fault that they had collided)

Nico was walking with Jericho who had his hands in his pockets talking about how this year was going to be horrible before turning a corner, running into someone. he was going to apologize but then he saw it was her and his face went blank

She quickly got up and said, "Oh! I'm sorry, I should have been watching where I was going."
She was about to appoligise again, but noticed who she had run into and she faltered and fell silent.

"just watch out next time." Jericho said coldly before walking past her
Nico stopped like he was going to explain why he was like that but Jericho called for him "I'll tell you tommorow then." he said quietly before going after Jericho

She said nothing, just continued on down the sidewalk until she got to her family's store and went to the back.
"Hey there, how was your first day?" Hunter asked.
"Do you me to be completely honest or sprinkle on the little white lies to make it sound better?" River asked.
"That bad?" He asked.
"I've had better days and I've had worse days. Basically someone already hates me before knowning me, but hey I guess that's the price you pay for choosing a different lifestyle than others." She said shrugging.

"come on Jer she's not like that man." Nico said following behind him
"you never know Nico, they lied to me, they lied to my mother, then they took her from me." he said with a ice cold tone that made Nico shiver and not say another word about the situation

"So the student teaching, how do you think that's going to go?" Ali asked. River gave a smug look.
"Oh so that's the class with the student who hates you hu?" She asked. River nodded.
"Well I'm sure it'll still be fun, you can help boss people around!" She said energetically.
"I don't boss people around, it's rude and mean. I dont like being told what to do so why should I be a hypocrite and boss others around if I don't like it?" River asked.
"I guess you're right." Ali agreed and danced away, the coins on her shirt jingling as she did.

Nico had left Jericho once they'd gotten near home but Nico turned and went back towards the place where River was. he looked around really all confused about the place

Ali danced around the store putting books on shelves and humming an upbeat tune as she did. River was setting up the table in the back and putting things where she wanted them while Hunter was in the storage room.
River carried some boxes of books to the front and started to help Ali put them on the shelves.
"Ali, you shouldn't walk around barefoot before we finish putting carpet on the floor you could get a splinter or step on a rustly nail." River said.
"But I hate shoes." Ali complained.
"well you'll have to suck it up until we finish carpeting the floor." River said. Ali stuck her tong out at her but slid her sandals on anyways.

he kind of poked his head in the door not sure if he should go in there or not "river?.....I think you came in here.....I think" he said her name but kind of said the last part to himself

"Yo River! Someone's here for you! Some boy! Did you already get a boyfriend?" Ali called, hearing him.
"What? No I didn't get a boyfriend." River said coming back in from the backroom.
"Oh, Nico, um what are you doing here?" She asked confused.

"I didn't feel like waiting to explain Jericho's attitude to you." he said smiling at her

"Oh that? I can guess at the reason and he's not the first to be mean to me before knowing me. I just learn to brush it off. I'm thinking that he or someone close to him was done wrong by someone of my kind or even killed by someone, or a combination so he thinks that all of us could be the same way despite the fact that he seems to forget the fact that there are cruel people like that in ever culture. Am I right about his reasoning? Someone was harmed and or killed by someone of my kind so he bases that into thinking that all of us are bad people? If you want me to go further into specifics I can." She said calmly.

"yeah but it wasn't just anyone, it was his mother. he had an abusive father so they ran away from him and the only love he had as a child was in his mothers arms. the man said they could trust him, trust all of his kind and he betrayed them so he's afraid to let you or anyone like you close or show you weakness because of his fears." Nico said explaining his exact situation a little more

"I understand that it wasn't just anyone, but he shouldn't base one person's actions on a whole culture of people. It's narrowminded." She said calmly.
"Hey that's almost exactly what happened to you." Ali said to River.
"Ali, shut up and get back to putting books up, that was a long time ago and no one care to hear about it." River said pointedly. She didn't like revealing her past, she didn't want pity or anything like that.
"But maybe it could help him understand!" Ali protested.
"Ali just stay out of it." River siad pushing her away.
"Sorry about her she loves jumping into conersations that aren't her business.." River siad with a smile.
"I'm trying to help your cause you ungrateful Seer!" Ali called. River bit her lip.
