"Magic users like your mother or my brother and I can use magic in general, but most also have a specialty of sorts, i is rare for anyone's specialty to be the same as another's at least not in the same lifetime. My brother and I specialize in nature magic. He's best with fire and air, working with it and controlling it. I'm best with earth, like plants and rock, and water. It's not what she can do that is the mystery, because she can use magic as a whole I'm sure. It's what she specializes in would be the mystery."
