Marilla noticed her family acting strangely all day, all three seemed on edge and jumpy to some degree and it concerned her. They planned a party for her birthday for the evening that the palace staff was invited to a small ball and dinner, for the most part throughout the day she had fun spending the whole day with her brother on his own insistence and she found his behavior odd as well, but for now decided to question it later ad enjoy the time they spent.
After dinner music was played and people danced, she danced around and enjoyed herself in the prettiest dress she now had, it was made just for this day.

Cassius slipped into the ballroom unnoticed as those danced around him happily unaware of his presence. He was dressed in an all black suit and his usually shaggy hair was perfectly tousled. His Expression was calm and cool until he laid eyes on his prize a small smirk tugged at his lips as he snapped and drive the room into utter darkness even though the huge windows sent sun into the room it touched nothing.

The sudden darkness startled everyone and after the initial sounds of concern passed silence fell in the room, music stopped and only hushed whispers filled the silence. Zale was immediately by his sister's side, having stuck close by her most of the day as is and put a protective hand on her shoulder and directed her back to the thrones where their parents were by memory, though did not let her go.
"What's going on?" Marilla asked, concerned, this didn't feel like part of the party to her.

"Now now little prince why so protective hm?" Cassius said slowly walking up to them all the lights finally flickering back to life as she stood on the steps "your lucky I like to play games you know. Knowing you all hide her from me like I wouldn't find out. Humans are a resourceful bunch but then again you know nothing"

"What are you talking about?" Marilla asked. "Zale, do you know this man?"
"Not exactly." He admitted though knew who he was he hadn't directly met him himself.
"Who are you?" She returned her attention to the stranger after looking to her parents who looked terrified but speechless.

"My names Cassius my dear" he said flashing her a stunningly beautiful smile as he approached her daring any of them to even flinch towards his prize "and I'm the reason that brother of yours, as annoyingly protective as he may be, is still above ground with a beating heart"

"Really? Do you mean when he had gotten sick as a child?" She asked and looked to her family.
Her father sighed and nodded. "Yes, the last time he had gotten sick too."
"But, then if it's been so long, what are you doing here now?" She asked Cassius curiously.

"Because your foolish parents promised me a prize if I was to do so. A prize I could not claim until its eighteenth birthday" he hooked a finger under her chin and leaned closer to look at her "I never expected something so lovely though I'm quite pleased"

Zale pulled her away from him. "Don't touch her."
Marilla turned to their parents. "Mom? Dad? Is this true? You agreed to give me away?"
"We didn't know we were expecting another child at the time, we thought we had time to prepare." Their mother explained as they two stood up to stand by their children.
"Please reconsider Cassius. Please don't take her away, we'll give you something else, land, money." Their mother pleaded.

"Now why would I want something else? You promised me something and i expect to be given what I was promised...unless youd like me to take away my original gift?" He questioned turning his attention to zale for a moment with a cold smile "I'm sure youd all enjoy watching that hm? Little show for your guests?"

"No!" Marilla interrupted immediately quickly catching on. "Don't hurt my brother. Take me with you if you want, but leave him alone."
"Mari...? No, we can't just accept this." He responded and looked helplessly to his parents who had no idea in what else could be done.
"And I can't let you be hurt. You're needed here." She answered.

He chuckled "look at you both acting as if I was giving a choice. Your brothers fine my dear. I planned to take you even if it was a no and that hed rather give his life for yours" he stepped up to her "that mark in you means you belong to me princess, you always have and always will. They could try to stop me but it would be foolish to do so"

She took a step back on instinct and glared, irritated by his attitude about this, it seemed like nothing to him but ended her world as she knew it.
She slowly turned to her family, not really sure in how to say goodbye when it was likely the last she would ever see of them again. They too were at a loss themselves and hugged her. Those around were also stunned, given all the effort over the years they were still losing their princess they adored as well.

He stood there impatiently waiting for them to finish this little sob story of a goodbye. Took everything he had to not just rip her out of there arms and leave. But he felt it best to not anger his prize more then he has already and didnt move
(Getting sleepy again so if I randomly stop it means I passed back out)

She pulled away and turned back to him, just giving a simple nod that she was ready, at least as ready as she would be, when she planned to leave home to see other places this wasn't what she had in mind so it was still a shock.
