"It is also called the Middle ages or the Dark ages. It is set between the era of ancient Greek to Roman rule and the Renaissance period. the ancient Greek and Roman's had a massive advancement in technology for the continent as well as a boom in the arts, however after their empire fell it led to the Middle ages where all of that technology had been lost. A similar boom in the arts and technology advancement occured in the Renaissance following the hardships of the Medieval era."

"The time period I refer to is set between two others that are noted for art and technology advancements. The one in the middle had a severe set back in those things."

"No that's not what I mean," she sighed, "that is the most simple of explanation of that period and it's naming for essentially a very complicated and tragic time period." The Medieval era is a highly romanticized period with a lot of facets to it. It had a larger advancement and effects in other ways than general technology and art. It had large influence in dealing with diseases and treatments because of the practices of plague doctors and more societal changes such as the work force. There is more to history and society than art and technology the era this one is similar to just happened to be sandwiched between two eras that were focused on those things."

"Well another thing that was largely associated with the time period was also things like magic and dragons, wizards and all. Specific legends of an old king wielding an enchanted sword and reuniting the torn apart kingdom and the adventures around his story and those around him probably aided in fueling the romanticism."
