She stopped but didnt turn to him "sometimes those who want change try to take it but others stand in the way. The saints, they may hold there own on a scale of power against normal magic users taking care of them easily but against each other one is easily outmatched. a decision cant be made without half of them being willing" she sighed "with that things will never be changing, we will be stuck in this endless cycle"


"A walk in the dark? What if something truly dangerous were to find you all alone out here hm?"

"Well then I guess she will just either need to try and individually get the others to understand her point of view instead of arguing with them all at once or need different kind of help." He replied.

"Like what? Are you referring to yourself since we're the only ones out here."

She looked back at him with a confused expression "I suppose so, maybe I will need to make her aware of that somehow....those men from earlier do they often target you?"

He chuckled hopping down from the tree "I wouldnt call myself dangerous"

He gave her a knowing smile when she looked back confused.
He shrugged at her question about the men. "Nope, never met them, I imagine they just torment anyone they feel like."

"I wouldn't call you dangerous either. You've had enough opportunities to hurt me by now. I know this forest well, dangerous things don't live out here unless you mess with them first." She replied.

She sighed "I see" she watched him "and why did you stand up to them for me? You could have let them take me and just left"

"After the events of the other night with the well I wouldn't be out alone, those powers that person has could be very dangerous"

"Didn't know at the time and you tried to stand up for me. Only figured it out now because of how you reacted to what I said."

"I basically grew up in this forest. I'm sure I will be fine, but thank you for your concern." Though she was concerned by it the fact that he was acting concerned and wondered what the motive was behind it.

She was still not understanding that he had figured her out "I'm sorry what?"

"Oh you look a little bothered, did what I say worry you? I'm sure you will be fine of theyd attack anyone it would be someone who has magic not someone like you "

He leaned closer to whisper in her ear. "If I had to guess based on your reactions you would have healing magic. Miss Melina right?"

"That is not what I am presently concerned about. If I may ask why do you care what happens to me?"

She felt her cheeks flush at the closeness and she found herself frozen where she stood "I...how did you..."

He shrugged "if I knew myself I would tell you"

"Like I said your reactions to the things I've said. People without magic are use to this and have felt similar frustrations and distress forever, your reactions were too strong to be a regular person without magic. You were also very quick to stand up for me, seemed pretty use to talking to people with magic with a level of authority. However almost all of the other saints wouldn't have such reactions and I decided someone with magic for healing would be better prone to empathy."

She was skeptical that he would actually tell her but at least he didn't seem to have a malicious motive behind it.
"Well thank you but you don't need to waste such concerns on me. I've looked after myself fine so far."

She moved back ever so slightly and stared into his eyes trying her best to figure him out "then why do you continue to treat me so kindly? By your words you very much would seem to hate me and everything that I am"

He rolled his eyes "wouldnt call not eating for 2 days fine but alright whatever you say"

"You haven't yet given me a reason not to. Sure every person with magic I've met before you have been horrible but I suppose there couldn't just all be bad apples."

She was clearly surprised but shook it off. "We don't have access to more food. I didn't have time to get more either till yesterday." She shrugged

She stared up at him, her cheeks still tinted red as a hand grabbed her and pulled her sharply back from him
"What are you doing?" She looked up to see a very annoyed looking axel glaring down at her
"I-I-"
"You what? Out exploring? Messing with this little shits head?"
"His names seth and he saved m-"
"I dont care" his hand pulsed a deep orange color before releasing the suppression as well as her change in looks. Her curly brown hair fell down her back and her bright green eyes sparkled when the light hit them.
His glare turned to seth now "You come near her again you little shit and I will flay you alive in the middle of your sorry little village got that?"
"Axel dont" she cried as he roughly started to pull her in the direction of the temple

He sighed "honestly I'm not sure why they dont allow you to be feed something while on temple grounds, I'm sure something could be passed if I used the premise of a full stomach means better work against the others "

Seth glared as his eye changed, the white turning black and the yellow of his eyes becoming a bright gold giving him a demonic look as red lines like veins appeared on his skin.
"I'd love to see you try. I think it is time you get a taste of your own medicine."
The ground below Axel's feet exploded with a force to knock him out of the village though did not cause damage to much of the area around it.

"Because we are nothing but trash to be used and thrown out." She answered and jumped when she heard the explosion in the village.
Without another word she jumped into the trees herself and basically ran from one branch to the next and jumped out, hitting the ground running back into the village only stopping when she saw the damage in the middle of the road and tilted her head when she saw the change in someone she vaguely knew.

Lazarus followed her and stopped seeing the damage as well as Mel on the ground in shocked. "Mel!" He yelled getting between her and seth assuming he had done this strictly to her rather then to axel who he at the moment wasnt aware had been right there
"Stand down, attacking a saint for any reason is illegal, especially Mel out of anyone" he glared, mel couldn't defend herself in the way most of them could as he ability was really strictly to mend rather then to injure.
He stopped as mel grabbed the back of his cloak
"Laz dont, he wouldn't hurt me...you not so sure. Please I beg of you dont try to hurt him"
