She raised an eyebrow at the statement of a little girl being the mate of the guy she had seen earlier but decided it was best not to question it.
"You can just call me Hunter. I didn't get your name either."

"Maverick...and I saw that look, Alexandra is 18 she just look like a 14 year old and I feel like that's pushing it" he said and Alex crossed her arms glaring at him which he ignored
"Don't forget you can't boss me around and be an alpha jerk Maverick I'm not like you"
"Yeah but I can take it out on Elijah"
She rolled her eyes and looked at hunter "I'll show you to the bathrooms so you can get cleaned up."

"I find the older I get the harder it is for me to tell the difference in ages for teenagers but it is good to know you're not as young as you look. But isn't it kind of harsh to make threats like that?" She asked Maverick.
"Isn't it more your job to protect your pack? Not hold their well-being over their heads like that? Or are things like that just different depending on the pack?"
She turned back to Alex, "thanks."

He didn't give a response to the question and walked away to address some of the others waiting for him
"He didn't mean it like it sounded." Alex said walking her into the building and towards and hallway to the left "Elijah is his best friend, most he'd do is give him extra patrols so I don't get to see him for dinner or something"
She opened the door to a spare bedroom "the bathroom is right in that door on the left, I can get you something clean to wear while you shower."

"Well I can answer questions if you like? I was kind of thrown into pack like 6 months ago when Elijah and I met and he told me I was his mate." She said folding her hands behind her back and rocking on her heels "might help you out or something I don't know"
Elijah had told her this girl was Mavericks mate and she didn't know it yet. She was sent to help ease it onto hunter so she didn't freak

"Well I guess you could start with this mate thing. It is sounding like soulmates or something like that, you're human right? And you just decide to join because some guy you just met said you were soulmates?"She asked in confusion.

"Pretty much, but there's more to it then that. When they find there mate they know it right away and freeze unable to take there eyes off them for a minute. It was so cute when I fist saw Elijah staring at me like a deer in the headlights. But a wolf's mate is who was choosen for them, someone they physically cannot live without. Like if I had rejected Elijah he would have been in physical pain as well as emotional pain its quite sad to think about. its one thing to be a wolf's mate its another to be the alphas though" She said sitting down on the bed "I'm sure you know pack order, how the beta is the alphas second? Well that is until they find there mate which is his Luna and she becomes the packs second and the only one who can actually tell the Alpha what to do"
Alex got her some towels and soaps from the cabinet setting then on the counter "I met Elijah when I turned 18, and he told me right away as I was already aware of werewolves existence and I didn't hesitate to stay. If I was choosen for him why would I want to go?"

"That does sound like it would suck, I mean what it they didn't actually like each other in the beginning? Then they'd be stuck in such a painful limbo like that," she sighed.
"I mean if you didn't have anywhere you wanted to be I guess it isn't really that hard of a decision but if it is someone who was going somewhere or had family elsewhere it would be much harder on the mate to stay like that. They would be giving up the life they were living or planning to live or breaking the heart of the wolf. Just sounds very inconvenient all around for the bond to be so... strong I guess is the way to put it?"

"Well it's easier when it's two wolves they don't go anywhere unless it's one from another pack the mate will join the stronger pack. But when you have a human mate it's a harder toll on the wolve, they already care about there mate in a way you would someone you've been with for years but we don't immediately feel that way." She explained with a sigh "that's why I feel bad for Maverick, he hated watching Elijah struggle with it. But he was luckily as I actually wanted to stay but if I would have had other plans he would have been devastated"

"Hm...I see. Geez why do other races have to have such weird biological rules like that? I hope something like that never happens with me involved, no one needs to be bound to me, that would be a nightmare for them."

She decided not to point out how foreboding that would sound and went into the bathroom, washing the blood away and cleaning her dirty clothes before drying off and changing into her clean clothes.
